ABC本季收视最理想的新剧Once Upon A Time是一部糅合童话和现实的奇幻剧。它将很多耳熟能详的童话故事重新包装，再穿插现代世界的情节。剧集的两位主创曾是LOST的编剧，时空交错的叙事手法与LOST一脉相承。不同的是，LOST用回闪反映角色的背景和过去从而交代角色当下行为的动机和性格的成因，因此成为联系过去和现在的桥梁。OUaT里的回闪是填补童话故事的空白，换句话说就是让编剧自由发挥的地方，和现实世界并没有直接的联系（因为大家都失忆了），这种割裂极大地削弱了故事的吸引力：童话部分既单薄又无悬念：即便改变了故事的细节，把王子写成农民，公主写成小偷，结局还是众所周知。而现实部分因为要兼顾和童话背景对应，显得不够真实。基本上A.V.Club剧评总结得很好：OUAT reminds me of one of those Saturday afternoon syndicated action-adventure series, only with better production values and bigger-name actors. It cashes in on its producers’ connection to Lost and apes that series’ structure, but it lacks Lost’s sophistication and insight, instead laying out plot in the plainest terms possible, no matter how tedious that may be.
